Dr. Erist Alinas Capul is an accomplished mathematics educator, educational researcher, and academic leader whose work has significantly contributed to the advancement of mathematics education, action research, and evidence-based educational practice in the Philippines. With extensive experience in basic and higher education, he has established himself as a strong advocate for research-driven instruction, curriculum innovation, and continuous professional development.
He earned his Doctor in Educational Management from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and a Master in Educational Management from the same institution. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education with Specialization in Secondary Teaching at the Philippine Normal University. His academic preparation has enabled him to develop expertise in educational leadership, mathematics pedagogy, research methodology, and instructional improvement.
Throughout his career, Dr. Capul has actively engaged in educational research focused on improving student learning outcomes, strengthening mathematics instruction, and addressing challenges in the teaching-learning process. His research works have been presented in national and international research conferences and published through recognized research forums and scholarly platforms. His studies have explored topics such as numeracy enhancement, disaster risk reduction management in schools, intervention strategies for mathematics learning, distance education support materials, and innovative approaches to developing students’ problem-solving competencies.
His research excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Top 1 Best Paper Award in the Division Research Forum for his study on numeracy enhancement among Grade 7 learners and the Ginintuang Leon Award for Outstanding Researcher. He has also served as a recipient of the Basic Education Research Fund (BERF), demonstrating the relevance and impact of his research initiatives in improving educational practice and policy.
Beyond conducting research, Dr. Capul has played a vital role in cultivating research culture within educational institutions. As a member of the Santa Rosa Division Research Council, research presenter, panel reactor, research defense chair, research coach, and resource speaker on action research and educational research methodologies, he has mentored teachers and researchers in designing, implementing, and disseminating scholarly work. His commitment to capacity-building has empowered educators to utilize research as a tool for instructional improvement and institutional development.
