The International Review of Multidisciplinary Research (IRMR) serves as a permanent repository of scholarly inquiry. To uphold the sanctity of the scientific record, the IRMR adheres to the comprehensive guidelines promulgated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This policy governs the post-publication management of articles, ensuring that errors are rectified and that the integrity of the intellectual property—retained by the authors under our Licensing and Copyright Policy—is maintained with technical precision and administrative transparency.
1. Taxonomy of Scholarly Updates
Post-publication updates are classified based on the severity of the intervention required to restore the reliability of the research.
Errata (Corrections): These are issued for minor, non-malicious errors that do not compromise the foundational validity of the manuscript (e.g., typographical errors, mislabeled figures, or minor calculation adjustments). Upon editorial verification, a formal Correction Notice is published, digitally linked to the original Version of Record, and indexed to ensure readers are aware of the modification.
Retractions: A formal retraction is the definitive mechanism for withdrawing research that is fundamentally unreliable. Retractions are triggered by evidence of data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, redundant publication, or ethical breaches that render the conclusions invalid.
Expressions of Concern: When credible allegations of misconduct or error are raised, but an investigation remains inconclusive, the IRMR may issue an Expression of Concern. This notice serves as a temporary flag to alert the global research community to potential issues while the investigation proceeds.
Withdrawals (Pre-Publication): In rare instances, manuscripts may be withdrawn prior to formal publication upon mutual, documented agreement between the Editor-in-Chief and the authors, typically due to irreparable procedural flaws.
2. The Investigation Architecture
The IRMR treats all allegations of misconduct with strict impartiality. When a concern is raised via irmr.admin@vertexcorp.org (citing the Article DOI and providing verifiable evidence), the editorial team initiates a structured inquiry:
Following COPE procedures, authors are provided an opportunity to respond to all evidence before an editorial decision is finalized.
3. Licensing, Copyright, and Permanence
The IRMR Licensing and Copyright Policy dictates that authors retain full ownership of their intellectual property. However, this ownership does not grant the right to unilaterally alter the published Version of Record.
Permanence of the Record: Consistent with our commitment to global indexing bodies, retracted articles remain publicly accessible but are clearly marked with a "RETRACTED" watermark across all digital formats. This ensures that the scholarly community remains fully informed of the status of the research.
Alignment with Open Access: Because our articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, all correction and retraction notices are likewise disseminated as open-access content to maintain total transparency in the scientific discourse.
Collaborative Integrity: By retaining copyright, authors remain accountable for the veracity of their work, and their cooperation during the correction process is a contractual expectation under the Publication License Agreement.
4. Ethical Standards and Enforcement
The IRMR’s post-publication management is anchored on four pillars:
Transparency: All notices (Errata, Expressions of Concern, Retractions) are made permanently and publicly available.
Evidence-Based Action: Decisions are not arbitrary; they are derived from documented evidence and verified against COPE flowcharts.
Fairness: We strictly uphold the rights of authors to due process and provide a platform for rebuttal before final editorial intervention.
Timeliness: We acknowledge that scientific credibility relies on the rapid communication of valid information; therefore, all updates are processed with maximum administrative urgency.
Effective June 1, 2026, this policy reinforces the IRMR as a high-integrity venue for multidisciplinary research, ensuring that the published record remains accurate, reliable, and subject to continuous scholarly accountability.
