Dr. Juan P. Catalan, EdD, LPT is a Filipino educator, academic leader, and educational management specialist with extensive experience in school leadership, instructional supervision, and public education administration. He currently serves as Public Schools District Supervisor in the Schools Division Office of Urdaneta City, where he provides instructional supervision, technical assistance, strategic school monitoring, and leadership support to schools within the district. Throughout his career in the Department of Education, he has progressively served as Principal II, Principal I, Head Teacher, and Teacher, demonstrating more than two decades of commitment to educational excellence and institutional development.
Dr. Catalan earned his Doctor of Education, major in Educational Management, from Urdaneta City University and completed his Master of Arts in Education, major in Educational Management, at the same institution. He also completed the academic requirements for a Master of Arts in Education, major in Mathematics, at Pangasinan State University and obtained a Certificate Program in Biology from Mariano Marcos State University. He earned his Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in Mathematics, from Panpacific University North Philippines as a PESFA Scholar. To further strengthen his expertise in educational leadership and mathematics education, he is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics Education at the Philippine Normal University as a Linking Standards and Quality Practice Scholar.
As an education professional, Dr. Catalan actively promotes evidence-based educational practice and continuous school improvement through research and scholarly engagement. He has presented research papers and research posters at the Public Schools District Supervisors Association National Research Congress and has consistently participated in division, regional, national, and international academic conferences, seminars, and professional development programs. His research interests include educational leadership, instructional supervision, mathematics education, school improvement planning, and quality assurance in basic education.
Beyond his research engagement, Dr. Catalan is a recognized learning facilitator and resource speaker at the division, regional, and national levels. He is a Certified Regional Learning Resource Evaluator and Certified Regional Learning Facilitator in Mathematics, contributing to curriculum quality, instructional material evaluation, and teacher professional development. His expertise in educational leadership has likewise been recognized through numerous distinctions, including the Region I Outstanding Supervisor Award under the Gawad Lam-Ang Search for Outstanding Supervisors and his fellowship with the Royal Institute of Educators, Singapore.
Through his sustained commitment to educational leadership, research, instructional excellence, and professional service, Dr. Catalan continues to contribute to the advancement of quality basic education, school governance, and teacher development in the Philippines.
