Engr. Lou Simon M. Catimbang is an industrial engineer, researcher, and academic leader whose work focuses on industrial engineering, systems modeling, operations management, sustainability, and engineering education. Combining industry experience with academic leadership, he has established a strong research portfolio that promotes innovation, data-driven decision-making, and continuous process improvement in both industrial and educational settings.

Engr. Catimbang earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines–Sto. Tomas and his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines–Sta. Mesa. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering at De La Salle University, where he continues to expand his expertise in systems engineering, operations research, and sustainable industrial development.

He currently serves as the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) Program Coordinator at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines–Santa Rosa Campus, where he provides academic leadership while fostering a culture of research, innovation, and professional development among faculty and students. His academic career is complemented by extensive industry experience in manufacturing, production systems, process engineering, and quality improvement, enabling him to integrate practical engineering solutions into scholarly research.

As an active researcher, Engr. Catimbang has presented numerous studies at prestigious international conferences across Asia, with research focusing on system dynamics, circular economy, renewable energy, engineering management, technical workforce development, geographic information systems, bibliometric analysis, and the adoption of emerging technologies in engineering education. His scholarly contributions have been recognized internationally, earning Best Paper and Best Presentation awards at the 2nd International Conference on Industrial and Systems Engineering, Technology, Innovation, and Management in Bali, Indonesia, as well as recognition as a Best Presenter at the International Conference on Humanities, Education, Sciences, Management, Engineering, and Technology.

Beyond conducting research, Engr. Catimbang actively contributes to the global engineering research community through his service as a conference chair, session chair, paper reviewer, and invited resource speaker for international engineering and operations management conferences. These roles demonstrate his commitment to advancing research quality, promoting scholarly collaboration, and supporting the dissemination of innovative engineering knowledge across academic and professional communities.

A Certified Industrial Engineer, Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, and Safety Officer II, Engr. Catimbang integrates engineering principles, quality management, and systems thinking into both research and professional practice. Through his continuing scholarly work, international research engagement, and commitment to engineering education, he contributes to the advancement of industrial engineering, sustainable systems, and innovation-driven solutions that address contemporary industrial and societal challenges.
